The Heart of GSM is caring for, mentoring and empower young professionals to love their community, to share Christ and make disciples, and to undergird Christ's church in Mongolia.

What majestic vision has the Father of Nations for this vast northern steppe far from any coast and snuggled between the two most powerful Communist nations in the world? With a fledgling democracy inaugurated in 1990 and new found mineral wealth, this cold nomad’s frontier is searching for its purpose and destiny. After the bankruptcy of communism and the desolation of poverty, the people are in a crisis of what to believe.
In 1990, there were only three Christians in Mongolia but today 100,000 proclaim Christ. Christianity, while considered an outside religion, provides hope and healing for the many woes of Mongol society. Mongolian Christians’ enthusiastic and joyful worship profoundly affect many who come to the church filled with the sorrows of alcohol addiction, poverty, broken homes and shattered lives. However, this young church lacks mentors. The first century Jewish Christians blessed the new Gentile church with their rich heritage of faith, Biblical culture and Theological understanding. GSM desires to carry on this tradition of caring, encouraging, discipling, equipping and empowering a new church and a new generation. Be a partner in this eternal endeavor.

Global Leadership Summit Mongolia (GLS)

Nomin - Director GSM

Our GSM staff attended the Willow Creek 'Global Leadership Summit' broadcast in Mongolia two weeks ago. As GSM's Director in Mongolia, here are Nomin's thoughts from the Global Leadership Summit Mongolia:

My job transition from the American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia to Director for GSM Mongolia was easy, but the transformation that comes with a renewal of my mind and my work principles has not been an easy step. I have a long way to go. The starting point for me was to realize two principles:
  1. If God is not leading GSM step by step, there is no value, no future, and no hope in what we are doing and planning. At the moment we take God out of the picture, we will perform exactly like secular companies that create value and worth by themselves.
  2. Without a good set of leadership skills I am in danger of wasting existing resources, missing potential opportunities, and not empowering those working for GSM to fulfill their potential.

I am grateful I was able to learn how these two principles meet and complement each other at the two day Global Leadership Summit with my team and many other Christian leaders in Mongolia. I believe further discussion among our team will help us apply the great things we have learned to GSM's ministry and operations. As we are in the process of developing our two year plan, I see that we as a team have a better idea of what we should do and how we should do it. But most importantly we know who we should be.
